* Art Sanctuary *
I have been spending a lot of time in my studio which has become an art sanctuary. Looking out my window the other day, the ocean was in a roar with the wind and rain coming on strong. It gave me pause as I focused on the canvas before me pouring my feelings into what became this palette knife seascape. The energy that flowed out of it made me feel alive on such a stormy day. I was able to play with the thick paint adding layers discovering where it took me. I stepped back and felt such a lift. I was so pleased with it. Let me know what you think! Where do you find sanctuary?

Is it ok to play favorites? Parents shouldn’t have them right? Being an artists doesn’t mean I love all that I create.  Actually the opposite can be true sometimes as there could be a real struggle with the making of a piece.  Some just come together effortlessly. Such joy in the making. I actually started this painting a couple of years ago. I recently picked it up from a gallery who had it and there was some ware and tear.  So I started painting on it.  What ended up happening is that I repainted the entire painting and made some design changes too. I spent many days adding layers of glaze.  This painting sings now! What do you think?

Lottery Number LUCK! Oh Happy Day! I got a fabulous number in the Sawdust lottery! My best number ever #111. That means that I will be the 111th person to pick their booth. We start with number one and go to about 189. This is usually a stressful day for the artists at the Sawdust. What booth should...

* Collector Blessings! *
What a great way to begin the new year!  I am so blessed by the people that I meet on my art journey.  So many fabulous connections through classes and art collectors.  I am especially moved when collectors come back to acquire another piece of art for their home. I met this sweet and happy lady in one of my art classes years ago.  She has taken a few classes over the years. I was honored to create a large commissioned piece for her dining room last year.  I’m thrilled that she saw this painting and just had to have it.  It makes me feel fabulous that my art makes her so happy.

* Transformation *
This past decade was the most transformative of my life. Moving to Laguna Beach in 2012 and starting my art career was like stepping into a dream. I am so moved to reflect on my journey. It has been the most amazing adventure. Selling my art for the first time. Stretching myself, exploring new methods, mediums, sizes, substrates and subjects. Wandering into the Sawdust Winter Fantasy 7 years ago, I was frightened to put my work up and I didn’t even know what to say to people. I am still so very grateful for all of my first collectors that year, I had never sold my art before. Then came my first gallery, then group shows, Summers at the Sawdust began and I was asked to teach art. I had no idea how I was going to do it all with my son in tow but we figured it out. It’s has taken a lot of tenacity and optimism. Each year got better and better creating my best life for myself and my son. To be able to say that I am able to support us by doing what I love and to have the freedom to spend as much time as I need with him is one of my most cherished things in life. I have ART and Art lovers to thank!

* Ringing in the NEW YEAR! *
Happy Happy New Year and New Decade! 2019 was a fabulous growth year for me! Thank you so much for everything! Reflecting back on all the artwork I was able to make fills me with such JOY! Joining Studio 7 Gallery, adding a gallery space at the Open Market OC, teaching more classes, the addition of Giclee prints and a record sales year makes it the best ever in my Art Business! 2020 Wishes I have been rewarded by knowing some of you since that first show. It is the best feeling ever when a past collector, student, admirer or friend comes to visit me at a show or venue or sends me a note.  I am grateful for each and every one of you and wish that 2020 is your best year yet and the start of your best decade ever!

I love summer because I can share my art with so many viewers. I enjoy the interaction with everyone and the feedback you all give me. I had one woman intently looking at my art. She said to me “I hope you know how talented you are.”  I sat with that for a while. Thinking, pondering and contemplating. I can say that I am thrilled that people enjoy my work and want to live with it and that I am always striving to do better than my last painting.  I appreciate you all for joining my journey. Thank you for blessing me with all of your kind encouragement, visits and acquisitions. I’m grateful to all of you. This has been a very blessed summer!

Have you seen my art at the Ritz yet? I was thrilled to be asked to join a group show at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point. “Essence of Laguna” is a Laguna Beach inspired exhibit. I hope you are able to come and see all the stunning artwork by local artists that reflects the beauty of Laguna in many different mediums. All the artwork is available to purchase. I am pleased to present two large oil paintings, one triptych wave and one stormy seascape.   Let me know what you think after you view them.
